Don & Shirley were family friends and so were we kids! I remember 4th of July picnics with Bakley's, Henrich's, & the Davidson's and listening to Tom's latest Beach Boy or Jan & Dean albums, riding motorcycles and piling into cars to go watch the Pilot Mound fire works.

Watched the original Romeo and Juliet from 1968 Sunday for the first time since Tom, Larry, Nan and Rhonda, Randy, Rick and I and their cousins from Chicago took two cars to the Ogden theater.

I remember a day trip to Eastern Iowa w the Bakley's to see the Locks and perhapsit was the Effigy Mounds. We used their walkie talkies all the way to converse between the two cars we rode in, one for the boys and one for us girls.

As everyone went away to college I started running over to see Shirley and Don and the latest woodworking or other projects. I don't know how Nan allowed it but Shirley would let me draw charcoal pictures on paper in Nan's room and I always loved to see her collections as well and I got ideas for my own projects. Larry once drove me home on his motorcycle and my friends thought I was the luckiest girl in Boxholm.

I always visited Shirley & Don when returning to Iowa and many of their hobbies are now mine. I have a houseful of craftsman pottery I have collected and Stickley furniture. I last saw Shirley in August 2014 in Boone and amazingly missed Zack and Brian back from Colorado too. I wish I could be there to see you all! I am sad and shedding tears. God Bless you all for the memories! Roxanne (Roxy to Shirley)

I remember Shirley at TOPS in Ogden.
I had gastric by-pass surgery 6 yrs ago & lost 250 pounds & kept it off.
We had a nice group of ladies that I can recall.
Sorry to hear this.
